Jesus my Lord, I love You; by the sea,
You enter quietly the boat of daily care;
Speak from its emptiness, and stay with me,
And make my ordinary labour Yours to share.
You call, “Put out into the deep”—I go;
“At Your word, Lord, I will let down the net.”
Though empty nights have wearied me, I know
Your word is worth each faithful venture yet.
When nets grow full, let others share my joy;
Amazed, I fall before Your knees and say,
“I am a sinner, Lord”—yet You employ
My fragile life: “Fear not;” You show the way.
So, leaving every net upon the shore,
I follow You, my Jesus, evermore.
